India: ASPIRE Team
The ASPIRE (Affordable Solar-Powered Indian REsidences) Project aims to design an integrated housing & energy solution that will be affordable for slum dwellers in India living off of 10,000 - 25,000 Rs/mo. We’re working under the direction of Reshma Singh (LIGTT) to conduct a broad assessment of the problem space, and develop specific proposals for techniques to
make housing affordable while integrating a community-level solar microgrid. Our team draws on expertise from graduate programs in structural engineering, mechanical engineering, building science, energy & resources, and environmental engineering & public policy. Currently, still we’re working on gathering background information - as our topic is very broad, there’s a lot of ground to cover. We’re starting to create preliminary designs for iteration, so that our background research going forward can be driven by questions spurred by our design ideas. |
